Keeping Your Catering Delivery Vehicles In Good Shape: What You Should Know

by Sofia Murray

Running a catering business is a challenging task for a business owner. On the one hand, your focus is on your cooking and on the food items that you have to offer. And on the other hand, there are all of the other tasks and issues that you will need to deal with as well. Some of these tasks include maintenance on your commercial vehicles (often referred to as a commercial fleet) that you use for catering deliveries. If you are unsure of how to keep your catering delivery vehicles in good shape and good repair, you should get to know some of the tasks that you should complete to do just that. Get to know the commercial fleet repair and maintenance work that you should do to ensure that your catering vehicles are fully functional whenever you need them.

Get Regular Oil Changes and Fluid Checks

First and foremost, your commercial vehicles need routine maintenance in order to function and last. Regular oil changes are among the most important and frequent forms of maintenance that your delivery vehicles will need.

About every 5,000 miles at a minimum, you should have the oil in your delivery vehicles checked. Sometimes, an oil change will not be necessary at this frequency, but if you use your vehicle a great deal and it is not a newer model, you may need the oil changed even more frequently. On the other hand, some heavy-duty vehicles can go tens of thousands of miles without needing new oil.

However, at that 5,000 mile interval, you will want to not only thoroughly check your engine oil, but also the oil filter, as well as the other fluids in your vehicle including transmission fluid, windshield wiper fluid, and the like. That way, your delivery vehicles have proper lubrication and will not have issues of metal components grinding against one another.

Any Time a Malfunction of Any Kind Occurs, Take It in For Repairs

When you are driving your personal vehicle and you notice a shudder in the engine or another issue, you may choose to just ignore it and continue driving your car without taking it in to your mechanic. However, if a similar problem occurs in your commercial fleet vehicles, it is important to take them in to be inspected and repaired as soon as possible.

While a personal vehicle breakdown will cause you inconvenience and frustration, a down delivery vehicle can cost you a catering job, leave you with highly dissatisfied customers and lose you current and future business and business relationships. Any time an issue occurs with your commercial delivery vehicles, take them in to a certified mechanic shop as soon as possible to have them inspected and repaired. This will save you a great deal of frustration and worry.

Keeping these tips in mind, you will be able to properly maintain your catering delivery vehicles and ensure that your business is not needlessly affected by vehicular problems. To keep your fleet running well in the Florida area, check out Florida Truck & Trailer Co.
